Art-Deco Inspired Black and Gold Cabinet

This distinctive cabinet is a striking example of how classic design can be reimagined for the modern home. Its bold, geometric styling takes clear inspiration from the Art Deco period, while its clean lines and understated form lend it a subtle mid-century influence. The result is a beautifully balanced piece that feels both timeless and contemporary.

The cabinet has been completely refurbished with great attention to detail. The body has been painted in Blackjack by Frenchic — a rich, matte black that provides a sophisticated contrast to the warmth of the natural wood. The central space has been stripped back and waxed to reveal the wood’s striking grain pattern, giving a unique, organic texture that softens the structured design. To highlight the cabinet’s distinctive triangular motif, fine detailing, including the stand old stripe separating the Blackjack and wood, has been added using Golden Oldie Frenshimmer, which catches the light with a soft metallic sheen and enhances the symmetry of the design.

The inside of the cupboard has been painted in matching black, ensuring a seamless finish throughout. The left-hand door closes securely with two catches, providing both practicality and charm. The original handles and key escutcheon have been carefully refinished to complement the golden tones and maintain the piece’s character, while the elegant cabriole legs — now finished in a subtle metallic shade — add a refined touch that ties the whole look together.

This cabinet would make a statement in any setting, whether used as a drinks cabinet, bedroom storage, or a standout feature in a hallway or living room.
