Green Vintage Dresser

This beautifully restored dresser has been professionally hand painted in Datchet Green by Sophie James Decor, creating a timeless piece that blends classic craftsmanship with contemporary colour. The rich green finish is perfectly balanced by the warm dark wood top and drawer fronts, giving the dresser a characterful two-tone appearance that suits both traditional and modern homes.

The upper display section features an elegant arched cornice with two open shelves, providing the perfect place to showcase ceramics, glassware, cookbooks, plants or treasured decorative pieces. Below, the solid working surface has been carefully stripped back and finished with Colron Jacobean Dark Oak Danish oil, allowing the natural wood grain to become a feature in its own right while creating a practical surface for serving or displaying everyday items.

To preserve the original character of the furniture, we retained the natural wood on both central drawers, carefully staining and oiling them to complement the worktop above. The traditional dovetail joints remain visible, highlighting the quality craftsmanship that makes vintage furniture so desirable. This thoughtful combination of painted and natural finishes gives the dresser a fresh contemporary look without losing its heritage.

Practical storage is just as important as appearance. The left-hand drawer includes its original wooden dividers with a felt-lined base, making it ideal for cutlery or smaller household items, while the spacious cupboards below include an internal shelf for storing dinnerware, table linen or everyday essentials. Original-style ring handles complete the restoration and complement the period styling beautifully.

Every piece we restore is individually prepared and professionally refinished in our County Durham workshop using primarily durable Sophie James Decor furniture paint. Wherever possible, we preserve original features and repair rather than replace components, allowing each piece to retain its authenticity while being ready for everyday family life.
