•    Rescued Beauty: This vintage writing bureau was on the brink of landfill, but we at Reduce. Reuse. Refurbish intervened to give it a new lease on life.

•    Stunning Transformation: Painted in the delightful Plum Pudding by Frenchic, this bureau is enhanced with a generous application of dark wax, creating a beautiful aged look that complements its vintage charm.

•    Two-Part Design: The bureau features a top bookcase that securely rests on the writing desk, held in place by four wooden dowels. The bookcase includes two height-adjustable shelves and an elegant carved wood detail on top.

•    Functional Writing Space: The writing desk has two pull-out drawers beneath the retractable desk surface. The desk opens smoothly, supported by hinges and sliders, revealing a small drawer and multiple shelves for perfect organization.

•    Charming Legs: Standing on four exquisite barley twist legs, this bureau showcases its lovely purple hue and aged appearance.

•    Note on Key: This vintage writing bureau comes with a key that is purely aesthetic, as the pull-down door has slightly bowed over time, but this does not affect its functionality as a writing desk.

Vintage Writing Bureau in Plum Pudding

When a vintage writing bureau like this is at risk of been sent to landfill, it's absolutely vital that someone intervenes and changes its course. In this case, it was us at Reduce. Reuse. Refurbish. It was tired, it was worn, and it needed a whole new look if it was to stand a chance at finding another home.

So we got to work. With quite possibly our favourite colour to date - Plum Pudding by Frenchic. Once painted, we generously applied a dark wax, to give this writing bureau a gorgeous aged look, in keeping with its style. 

The vintage writing desk comes in two parts. The top bookcase sits securely on top of the writing desk, secured by four wooden dowels that slot into the top of the desk. The bookcase has two height adjustable shelves and a beautiful carved wood detail on top to finish. 

The writing desk itself is made up of two pull out drawers that sit below the pull out desk. The door retracts to create a level desk and is secured by two hinges and sliders that automatically pull out as the door opens. Within the desk, there is a small drawer and several little shelves, making it a lovely space to organise yourself perfectly. 

The bureau is stood upon four beautiful barley twist legs, looking beautiful with their purple colour and aged appearance.

Please note that this vintage writing bureau comes with a key, however this is purely aesthetic. This is because the pull down door has bowed slightly due to its age. This does not affect its use as a writing bureau.
